Microalgae are a known source of proteins, prebiotics, lipids, small molecules, anti-oxidants and bioactives with health benefits that can be harnessed for the development functional foods, feeds, cosmeceuticals pharmaceuticals. This review collates information on supply, processing costs, target markets value microalgae, as well microalgal vitamins minerals. It discusses potential impact microalgae could have global food feed supply highlights gaps exist regards to use proteins ingredients foods supplements.
